VIDEO: Oyo Indigene, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola Defeats Japanese Boxer in 2022 Super Featherweight Contest

Oyo State-born pugilist, Ridwan Oyekola popularly known as ‘Scorpion’ on Sunday morning defeated his Japanese opponent, Daisuke Watanabe by unanimous decision 78-75 78-74 78-73 in an 8-round bout, at the World Super Featherweight Title in Sapporo, Japan.

The fight which started around 10am Nigerian time saw Nigeria’s Ridwan Oyekola (8-1-1-5KOs) beat down his Japanese counterpart, Daisuke Watanabe (12-5-2-7KOs) in far away Gateaux Kingdom Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, where he had few Nigerian cheerleaders.

Recall the 24-year old boxer had also made Oyo State proud as he won the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Super Featherweight Championship, held in Ibadan on December 27, 2020.

He was gifted a ten million naira check later in 2021 by the Governor ‘Seyi Makinde-led government.
