We Endorsed Aluko, Not Ajimobi As Deputy National Chairman — Ekiti APC

The All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Ekiti state has refuted media reports that the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has been endorsed as the new deputy national chairman (South) of the party.

The position became vacant following the appointment of Ekiti state former governor, Chief Niyi Adebayo as the minister of Trade and Investment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

On Tuesday party members from Ekiti state stormed Osogbo, the Osun state capital during the zonal meeting of the party to protest alleged plan to move the position to Oyo state by the leadership of the party.

There were reports that the former Oyo state governor was endorsed at the meeting to fill the vacant position at the National Working Committee (NWC).

However, the chairman of the party in Ekiti, Mr Paul Omotosho noted there was no time at the meeting that Ajimobi was endorsed, describing the report of the purported endorsement as, ”reckless and smacks of mischief and misinformation on the part of the writers.”

The statement reads; “I was present at the meeting and nobody said anything about endorsing anybody for the position at that meeting.

“We made our position clear that our state has to serve out its tenure and that we are endorsing Senator Gbenga Aluko for the position.
