Attorney Generals of the six Southwest states, on Friday, met in Ibadan over the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun.
Present at the meeting were Attorney General, Oyo State, Professor Oyelowo Oyewo; Attorney General, Osun State, Mr Oluwafemi Akande; Attorney General, Ekiti State, Mr Olawale Fapohunda; Attorney General, Ondo State, Mr Adekola Olawoye; Attorney General, Ogun State, Mr Akingbolahan Adeniran and Attorney General, Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo represented by Mr Adisa Quadri.
While briefing newsmen shortly after the closed door meeting which lasted for 3hours, the host Attorney General who doubles as the Oyo state Commissioner for Justice, Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, said the state chief law officers have deliberated on the enabling laws to back the newly launched Operation Amotekun and have drafted a legal frame work for it in relation to the Nigerian constitution and statutory security agencies.
He added that the bills drafted, will proceed to the state houses of Assembly of the six Southwest states next week.
Professor Oyelowo, hinted that Amotekun Corp will be incorporated into the legal frame work, other standard operational procedures and the operational manual would be included too.
Meanwhile, the Speakers of the Houses of Assembly of the states, had on Thursday, 23rd January, 2020 met in Ibadan where they promised to give speedy consideration to the bill when presented for enactment.
