The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has called on residents of Eruwa and the state at large to file complaints if they witness any act of corruption because complainants are protected by the law.
The Chairman of OYACA, Honourable Justice Eni Esan made this call on Thursday during the commissioning and sensitisation campaign at the Agency’s Ibarapa Zonal office in Eruwa, Ibarapa East local government.
The zonal offices, which are one of five types in the state, would gather petitions and complaints regarding corruption, fraud, and administrative irregularities in the state and local government systems.
The purpose of locating the zonal offices, according to Eni Esan, is to provide the people of Oyo State with access to free and fair administrative justice, as well as to halt all corrupt activities in the state.
She added that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has zero-tolerance for corruption and bad administration.
“This is part of the state government’s activities to flush out all bad eggs in the State, in all spheres of Government sectors.
“The zonal offices, part of which is the one we are commissioning today is to bring nearer to the people, the opportunity to bring to the attention of OYACA, cases of corruption and administrative irregularities.”
The chairperson of OYACA reaffirmed that the Agency will not be compromised in any way, since all of OYACA’s management members have been thoroughly scrutinized by the State Government before being inducted into the agency’s system.
She also stated that OYACA collaborates with other federal anti-corruption agencies such as the ICPC and the EFCC to share ideas on how to investigate accusations of corrupt practices.
The Chairman of the Ibarapa East Local Government, Honourable Gbenga Obalowo, while speaking at the opening ceremony praised the current administration for launching OYACA and other programs, particularly to combat corruption in the state.
He went on to say that Governor Seyi Makinde had followed the proper procedures in putting a halt to the corrupt people’ activities.
The people of Eruwa and Ibarapa, according to Honourable Obalowo, respect the law and will work with OYACA to bring the state ahead.
