A Beninese court hearing immigration-related suit against the acclaimed Pro-Yoruba freedom fighter; Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho’s on Thursday evening rescheduled sitting until Monday, July 26 2021.

The court ruled that Igboho be kept in the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou pending the Nigerian government’s submission of charges.

Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, the Media Communications Secretary of the Yoruba self-determination groups’ umbrella organisation Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), said that the case has been deferred till Monday, July 26th, to allow the Federal Government to present whatever evidence they may have against Igboho.

“After the sessions, the lawyers handling the case reported that Chief Sunday Adeyemo lgboho cannot be extradited to Nigeria for two primary reasons:

“1. That contrary to insinuations, Nigeria and Benin have no Extradition Agreement

“2. That Nigeria has not been able to come up with charges that could lead the court to order lgboho’s extradition to Nigeria.”

“What Nigerian Government came up with were mere allegations against Ighoho such as trafficking in arms and inciting violence that could result in the social disturbance without evidence…”
