3 Weeks After Testing Positive, UCH Chairman Tests Negative For COVID-19


The Chairman of the Board of Management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Alhaji Shettima Ibrahim Bako Bagudu has tested negative to the coronavirus (COVID 19).

This is coming after three weeks of being in quarantine for the coronavirus.

Toye Akinrinlola, Public Relations Officer, University College Hospital, in a statement on Sunday said “two tests were carried out on him and both returned negative.

“With this, he now has a clean bill of health.”

The Chairman, Alhaji Shettima has urged Nigerians to observe the guidelines laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

He thanked the UCH community for their support and encouragement during the trying period. He also expressed his appreciation to the CMD, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, the Management of the Hospital and all medical non-medical personnel that attended to him while on quarantine.

The Board, Management, staff and students of the University College Hospital, Ibadan heartily congratulate the chairman on the clean bill of health he now has.

Shetima had been in isolation at a special ward in the UCH after he tested positive for coronavirus three weeks ago. The hospital had said the chairman manifested symptoms of the virus shortly after the last board meeting of the hospital began in Ibadan, adding that the test conducted on him revealed that he was positive for COVID-19.
