JUST IN: Prominent PDP Chieftain, Benedict Akika Regains Freedom

Benedict Akika, A loyalist of Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Chieftain of the PDP in the State, who was kidnapped in his Ibadan home, has regained freedom.

A source who is in know of the event made this known to newsmen late Wednesday evening.

His release came 6 days after gunmen stormed his Olorunda residence to whisk him to an unknown destination.

Two government sources also corroborated the first source about his release.

While it was not known as at press time whether or not ransom was paid, Akika is said to have been taken to a medical facility for examination.

Only few days ago, his loyalists offered interdenominational prayers to ask God for his release.

Though a non-indigene, Bene as he is fondly called, has used his closeness to the governor to facilitate project to the Akobo-Olorunda axis of Lagelu local government, an action that made traditional rulers to install him as Agbaakin of Olorunda.
