Governor Makinde To Reveal Identity of the Company Where 38 Tested Positive to COVID-19

Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde has said the details of the company in Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area of Oyo State where 38 COVID-19 cases have so far been confirmed in the last two days would be revealed tomorrow.

Makinde stated this during the State Task Force briefing at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan. He said,


“We have held back from revealing the name of the company so as to allow the emergency operation centre to gather intelligence and complete their investigation, so they will be done by tomorrow.”

“I will be able to give you that information so that any person who has visited the company recently will be able to present themselves for testing.”

On management of COVID-19 cases, he said, “we will continue to allow all confirms COVID-19 cases who are able to isolate at home to do so in order not to overrun the capacity of the isolation centres.”

“We will ensure the isolation centres are available for those who need hospitalisation, however,we will keep tracking those self isolating using technology to prevent community spread.”

Governor Makinde also reemphasized on the social distancing directive, he said, “we have received request from religious leaders about relaxing the ban on religious gatherings to allow religious services hold. The experts advice is that transmission occurs more easily in enclosed places, so we cannot at this point in time relax this directive.”

“However, the experts are carrying out a risk situation analysis, they will be sending in their reports before the end of May and this would determine our next steps.”


” Therefore, we will be meeting with religious leaders before the end of this week to see when the reopening if religious places will be possible.”
