The Oyo State Working Committee of ACCORD, led by Chairman Prince Kolade Ojo and State Secretary Hon. Olayinka Dairo, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift actions in organizing the local government election in the state. In a statement in Ibadan, Hon. Olayinka Dairo described this initiative as an extraordinary achievement by Governor Makinde to promote democracy, inclusive governance, and equal distribution of development to all parts of the state.
Hon. Dairo stated that Governor Makinde has demonstrated great respect for the rule of law, showcased his democratic credentials, and shown an unwavering commitment to bringing development to all aspects of life in the state. He praised the governor for reshaping local government administration to ensure the delivery of social amenities, welfare, and development.
The ACCORD state secretary expressed confidence in the upcoming April 2024 local government election and confirmed that his party will participate in the poll. He acknowledged that Governor Makinde is providing a fair playing field for all political parties through the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC.
During an interview on the political program Bosenlo on Lagelu 96.7 FM, Ibadan, Hon. Dairo emphasized that Governor Makinde is appointing capable individuals into his cabinet to bring about more development projects, infrastructure, welfare, and security under Omituntun 2.0.
Regarding the ACCORD alliance with Governor Seyi Makinde during the previous general elections, Hon. Dairo explained that the merger was a result of the lack of respect and recognition for party supremacy and unilateral decisions by their governorship candidate. He stated that the alliance was a collective decision made by party stakeholders, including the 33 local government party chairmen.
Hon. Dairo affirmed that Governor Makinde is a reliable ally and a man of his word. He assured ACCORD loyalists that the governor has promised to reward and compensate them with suitable appointments in his cabinet for their contributions to the birth of Omituntun 2.0.
Hon. Dairo expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of ACCORD National Secretary Hon. Dr Adebukola Abiola Ajaja, as well as party stalwarts, candidates, and leaders across the state. He appealed to members to remain united and loyal, assuring them that the benefits of good governance will be shared among all.
