Alagba’s Death: Makinde Delivers New Tortoise To Soun Ogbomoso’s Palace

The Soun of Ogbomoso has received a new Tortoise from the Oyo State Government.

This is to substitute Alagba, the 344-year-old Tortoise, that died in October 2019 and has been mummified.

The new Tortoise was presented by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in the state, Bar. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, together with the Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy, and the Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Ajagbe to the monarch, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

The Commissioner, while presenting the new Tortoise in the company of the two chairmen, indicated that it was carried out in line with the directive of the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to delight the king and the people of Ogbomosoland and to restore the symbolic emblem lost since the demise of the historical being (Alagba).

The Commissioner congratulated the people of Ogbomosoland for the privilege of having Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III as their monarch and also wished the Kabiyesi a blissful reign.
