The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Maknde, this Wednesday, flagged off the Construction of Ultra-Modern Akesan Market in Oyo.
The event which took place at the premises of the Akesan Market, Oyo East Local Government Area of Oyo State, had in attendance top government officials, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, amongst other sons of the soil.
While flagging off the Construction of the Ultra-Modern Akesan market, the Governor explained that the construction of the market will cost about N781Million and when completed, it will have 520 lock-up shops, 168 open stalls and other facilities in line with ultra-modern standards.
The governor added that the project will be divided into two phases and the first phase will be completed in six months.
In his remark, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, charged Governor Makinde to use his engineering expertise to oversight the construction of Ultra-Modern Akesan market so as to meet up with global standards.
Oba Adeyemi, however, prohibited cooking activities and the use of gas cookers in the market; a measure to forestall recurrence of fire disaster in the market.
You would recall that the Akesan market was destroyed by fire on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
