Governor Makinde visits LAUTECH, Approves Payment of COVID-19 Hazard Allowance for Health Workers

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has approved the payment of COVID-19 hazard allowance to all health workers across the state.

Governor Makinde stated this while meeting with health workers at the Lautech teaching hospital, Ogbomoso.

The Governor explained that he had ordered an increase in the subvention for LAUTECH Teaching Hospital which is expected to take care of the new minimum wage, 2016/2017 arrears as well as payment of salaries of recently re-engaged health workers starting from the end of this month.

The Governor also promised to look into cases of 46 disengaged staff of Lautech teaching hospital Ogbomoso stressing that if they have genuine cases, they would be immediately reinstated.

Makinde said his administration would strive hard to complete all abandoned projects irrespective of the administration that initiated them for the progress of the state.

The Number one citizen of the state pleaded for the support of the health workers to improve the health sector and as such, increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.

Governor Makinde also commissioned Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine donated by pivotal club Ogbomoso, Resident doctor’s lodge, Relative lodge for relatives of patients and inspected the ongoing construction of an isolation centre which is located within the premises of the teaching hospital.

In his remarks, the Chief medical director Lautech Teaching Hospital Ogbomoso, Prof Oladimeji Opadijo said the teaching hospital had a virology building that needed to be developed in order to take care of viral study, diagnosis and clinical intervention of viral outbreaks of any sort.

The leaders of various associations in the teaching hospital also commended the Governor for his concern to their welfare and appealed for more gestures while pledging to key into his health agenda for the state, in line with the road map for accelerated development.
