An Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso has reserved judgment until October 25 in a lawsuit challenging the selection of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosho. The lawsuit, filed by Prince Kabir Olaoye, alleges irregularities in the process that led to Ghandi’s emergence as the Soun of Ogbomosho.
Prince Kabir Olaoye is seeking a court order to nullify Ghandi’s emergence and order a fresh process. Oba Ghandi was installed as the new Soun of Ogbomosho on September 8, 2023, several months after the throne became vacant following the death of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021. Oba Oyewunmi had ruled for 48 years before his passing at the age of 95.
Justice A.K. Adedokun has fixed October 25 for judgment in the lawsuit against Oba Ghandi, following the final address by the legal teams.
