Covid-19: Oyo Civil Servants to Get Free Access to Vaccine as FG Mandates Compulsory Vaccination

Civil servants in Oyo State both in the federal and state civil service has been urged to take the Covid-19 vaccine which has been made available and free by the Federal Government in conjunction with the Oyo state government for the people of Oyo.

This comes on the backdrop of the recent announcement of the Federal Government plans to make Covid-19 vaccination compulsory for all employees in the public service.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha who made this announcement during a conference of Health Commissioners in Nigeria in Abuja recently, said that the Federal Government of Nigeria will gradually impose rules of no access to government facilities without evidence of being vaccinated.

He added that civil servants in both Federal and state civil service are given free access to the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine because they will travel to perform roles on behalf of the Government and they, therefore, need to be well prepared before embarking on such journeys.

In his words” It is a sequential thing and we are taking one step at a time. We realised we do not have sufficient vaccines so we will not be able to impose mandates of inaccessibility to government facilities without vaccination on an automatic basis, but we would make sure that people are going to find it easy to take the vaccine by making it available and free “.

It will be recalled that the Oyo State government had received doses of the Covid -19 vaccines and have distributed them to various health centres in the state and civil servants have been previously encouraged to register online and take the vaccines at the nearest health centre of their choice.

With the announcement of the planned mandatory vaccination by the FG, Oyo State indigenes who are either in the Federal or State civil service will have to defy all odds and take the Covid-19 vaccine to be able to access public facilities while carrying out their designated job duties without any hindrance.
