A resident of Bodija community in Ibadan, who can be identified as Ibadan Baker @TheCakeChancery on Twitter X, has expressed frustration over the theft of a transformer and cables in her neighborhood.
She also lamented how this development has left the community without electricity for two months.
In a series of tweets, she described how thieves initially stole cables from the transformer, and then returned to steal the entire transformer itself.
She added that the community had just started contributing money to replace the stolen cables when the transformer was stolen.
She further questioned the detention of the community’s security guard, who was accused of being involved in the initial theft of cables. He wondered if the guard would be released now that the transformer had been stolen while he was still in custody.
The resident expressed his disappointment and frustration, demanding a refund of his contribution to replace the stolen cables.
She wrote;
“Of all the mistakes I’ve made in my 39yrs on earth, moving to this area tops the list. I hate myself right now.
“I’ve been complaining lately about how thieves stole cables from our transformer and we’ve not had light in 2months ..
Guys, they came back last night to steal the transformer itself. Like it was uprooted and it’s gone gone ..!!! Which kind wahala be this?
“The entire community is to raise 2.4M to buy new cable so we can have light again, we just started contributing 20k per building on Monday and overnight the entire transformer is gone.
“Mind you, the security guard is still. Behind bars when they came to steal the cables. They said he might know about the operation, okay now.
“Are they going to release him now that they came to steal the whole transformer and he’s behind bars when it happened?
“I’ve messaged them on the community WhatsApp platform to refund my 20k contribution I paid to buy new cables. Let me go and use the 20k to eat Amala skye bank, my head is spinning.”
