The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede today paid an unscheduled visit to the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, which is currently being remodelled, to assess the level of work already done on the project.
During his visit, the commissioner made sure he inspected every bit of the project and had the contractor in charge take him around the facility to complete his assessment. He also explained that the track model being used was BSW for its sustainability; the lifespan of the BSW covers 15 years, has a 5-year warranty, and also fits well with tropical Africa.
Pleased with what he saw, Hon. Fakorede expressed his belief that the remodelling being done by the Oyo state government will improve the state’s economic growth as the facilities currently being renovated will swell the state’s coffers due to the additional revenue sources they provide.
He also added that the remodelling will allow athletes in the state to compete at their peak and stated that the state government developing the sports sector in partnership with the private sector is an exciting and long-overdue development.
