The Oyo State Coordinator of the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer, Mr. Oladipo Oyekola has said disbursement of conditional cash transfer has been put on hold in Ona-Ara Local Government area as a result of an attack on the officials in charge of the program by hoodlums in the Local Government area.
The state coordinator of the program, Mr. Oyekola, in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, this Friday, explained that disbursement of the conditional cash transfer kick started in Ona-Ara Local Government area on Tuesday but was hijacked by hoodlums in the local government area on Wednesday.
As a result, Mr. Oyekola maintained that disbursement of cash will be put on hold until the DPO in Ona-Ara Local Government Area provide adequate security for the officials in charge of the program.
While reacting to the statement credited to some aggrieved residents of the Ona -Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State who on Thursday, protested against the reported disbursement of conditional cash by the Federal Government in the council areas, saying the alleged payment was fraudulent.
The Coordinator explained that only the poorest households which are registered with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs disaster Management and Social Development will get the advance payment of the conditional cash transfer.
He noted that most of the protesters are not registered beneficiaries but wanted to get from the money by force.
Mr Oyekola, however, hinted that the disbursement of the conditional cash transfer has commenced in 28 local government areas of the state as of today.
