Gov. Makinde Approves Payment Of N1b Out Of N4.8b Owed Sacked Oyo LG Officials

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the release of one billion naira to be paid to the sacked local government officials in the state.

A memo by the ministry of local government and chieftaincy matters, signed on December 21, 2021 and sighted by newsmen showed that the state has approved the payment of N1billion out of the four billion, eight hundred and seventy-four million and eighty-nine thousand, four hundred and twenty-five, sixty kobo, it is owing the former council helmsmen.

Recall that, for over two years, council officials elected by the immediate past governor of Oyo State, were in court to challenge the removal by Makinde.
