Governor Makinde Promises Befitting Burial for Departed Alaafin of Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has pledged that his administration will expend every necessary effort to give the departed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, a befitting burial rite.

Makinde made the promise while paying a condolence visit to the late Monarch’s family and traditional council chiefs with top Government functionaries.

To this end, the Governor implored the Oyomesi to expedite their duties to avoid an elongation of the vacuum left by the late Monarch who joined his ancestors at the age of 83 having spent 52 years on the throne.

While describing the death of Alaafin as the loss of a human encyclopedia of traditional history, Makinde stated that Alaafin easily referenced facts and figures when approached on burning issues for advice.

Makinde while reacting to suspicious allegations in the departure of Oyo kings, stated that there is time for everything and requested prayers for understanding in positive steering of the state’s affairs.

The Oyo helmsman also lauded the impactful lifestyle of the late Alaafin of Oyo which have been attested by calls received from different quarters of the Country particularly the presidency.

Earlier in his welcome address, representative of one of the ruling houses in Oyo including Adeyemi, Ladigbolu and Agunloye, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, noted that the demise of Oba Adeyemi is not being mourned but the celebration of the Articulate king of kings is being done.

Ladigbolu added that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is a true reincarnation of Atiba who also kicked the bucket in the fourth month of the year.

While appreciating Governor Makinde for his timely visitation despite his busy schedule, late Alaafin’s eldest son, Prince Babatunde Adeyemi, charged all to bequeth good legacy to unborn generation because all humans would answer the clarion call, one day.

Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is survived by wives, children, relatives and many others.
