Governor Seyi Makinde Approves 500Million for LAUTECH Staff Salaries

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has approved a sum of 500 million naira to Clear some backlogs of salaries and allowances to ensure smooth academic session.

The Governor stated this while addressing LAUTECH stakeholders held at the University’s Hall in Ogbomoso.

Governor makinde explained that the issue of ownership crisis affecting the institution would be jointly addressed by the Oyo state government and state of Osun.

Makinde assured the LAUTECH stakeholders that government under his watch will find lasting solution to challenges facing the great citadel of learning.

Governor Seyi Makinde also told the stakeholders that committee will be inaugurated on Wednesday to critically look into the crisis affecting LAUTECH.

The Governor said before Christmas, a sum of 500million will be released to LAUTECH to ensure smooth academic session.

Governor Seyi Makinde also cautioned workers and university communities about their statement to state of Osun government adding that both states are partners in progress towards taking the institution to the greater height.

The Governor also hinted the public that over 20 percent was budgeted for education in 2020 budget to be presented before Oyo state house of Assembly on Wednesday.

The Number one citizen of Oyo state assured LAUTECH stakeholders that issues affecting the institution will not be politicized.

Meanwhile in his address, the Vice chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof Michael Ologunde, said ownership crisis has been the major challenges affecting the institution.

He urged Governor Makinde to intensify more efforts in the payment of 6.07 billion Naira debt owed workers of the LAUTECH.

Some stakeholders who spoke at the programme enjoined Governor Seyi Makinde to critically look into the joint ownership of LAUTECH for the advancement of the university.
