Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been urged to consider Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan, a former Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, for a Ministerial slot in his cabinet. The call was made by the APC Strategic Team (AST), one of the major groups in President Tinubu’s campaign train.
According to the group’s Convener, Olawale Abudu, Adeduntan’s significant contributions to the successes of President Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde during the last elections make him a valuable addition to the Tinubu-led government. Abudu highlighted Adeduntan’s efforts after losing the APC Governorship primary and his support for Tinubu and Makinde despite opposition from some APC leaders in Oyo State.
The group is confident that Adeduntan, a renowned cardiovascular surgeon, would be an asset to Tinubu’s government and Nigeria as a whole. They called on President Tinubu to include him in his cabinet and appealed to Governor Makinde to support this effort and reward hard work.
The group also commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, emphasizing the importance of expertise, character, loyalty, capacity, knowledge, experience, and competence in his recruitment process. They believe that Adeduntan’s track record, contributions to the success of the APC, and his experience make him a suitable candidate for a ministerial position.
The group expressed their confidence that Adeduntan, with his connections in America and his previous role as a Commissioner, would attract partnerships in the health sector to boost healthcare in Nigeria, reduce brain drain among doctors, and minimize medical tourism. They believe that this would contribute to a safe and healthy nation for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The group’s appeal to President Tinubu is based on their belief in his judgment and their sincere hope that their request will be granted for the overall good of the country.
