Ibadan Group Partners Organisation to Preserve, Digitalise Ibadan Families’ histories

In an effort to protect, preserve and digitalise the rich histories of Ibadan families, Ibadan Youth Indigenes, IYI, have signed Memorandum of Understanding with Zamoph Resources Limited.

According to the President of Ibadan Youth Indigenes, Eni Iyi Wasiu Oyekunle, the agreement was targeted towards digitising the historical background of each respectable family in the ancient city of Ibadan.

Eni Iyi Ojekunle stressed that the Zamoph Resources Limited contacted Ibadan Youth Indigenes on 29th of March this year about the idea.

He noted that they sent a response on 11th April after extensive deliberations by stakeholders of the association on the Africa Oral history and Genealogy Project.

He explained that Ibadan Youth Indigenes, IYI, have carefully designed an efficient and comprehensive modus operandi to participate in the project adding that the association will contact all relevant stakeholders in respect of Ibadan history and families histories across Ibadan.

Ojekunle said: “It’s part of our Corporate Social responsibilities as Ibadan Youth Indigenes to promote, protect and preserve the history and monuments of Ibadan, which is regarded as the home of warlords.

“Ibadan Youth Indigenes know that Family Search International has been undertaking an exciting Oral Genealogy Project across Africa to record living memories and preserve as well as digitalise the histories and traditions of future generations.

“Before signing agreement with Zamoph Resources Limited it’s in the plan of IYI to do the project manually but now, we sincerely appreciate the leadership of Family Search International for their commitment to reduce identity crises and fragmentation that will soon be added to the challenges confronting people”, he stated.

Also speaking the Managing Director of Zamoph Resources Limited, Mr Apantanku appreciated the President Ibadan Youth Indigenes, Eni Iyi Wasiu Ojekunle and his team for their readiness towards the actualisation of the project.

Among those present at the meeting were — Eni Iyi Badmus Ibrahim, the director of Social and welfare, Director, Eni Iyi Osunkojo Samson, a member from Ona Ara IYI, Eni Iyi Idowu Yaqub from Egbeda, Eni Iyi Oluwatosin, a member from Ibadan North East, Eni Iyi Alimi Saheed, a member from Lagelu among others.
