Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has said his quest to contest for the position of the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is hinged on repositioning the party for the better.
In a statement by his media aide, Ibrahim Bamitale, on Wednesday in Ibadan said his desire to unite the party and move it to greater heights is the reason for contesting for the position.
According to him, the need to return normalcy to the party and to ensure an all-inclusive, purposeful, visionary party made him show interest in contesting.
He said, “In order to bring normalcy back to our fold and after due consultation with party faithful, members, leaders, and stakeholders, today, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja participated in the screening of all Aspirants for the forthcoming National Convention at Legacy house Abuja.
“While Ambassador Arapaja would be aspiring for the post of the Deputy National Chairman of our great party, this ambition is borne out of the great idea of repositioning the Party to greater heights it rightfully belongs as we have started in the South-West PDP.
“Our dearest Governor and Leader of PDP in the South-West, Governor Seyi Makinde, has really raised the bar of politicking in our nation and we can’t do otherwise than to follow in his footsteps of an all-inclusive, purposeful and visionary brand of politics with a human face. His support has been very tremendous and we hope to continue making him proud.
“It’s our greatest hope that we shall once again come out victorious.”
