LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Bet9ja Foundation, the charitable arm of Nigeria’s leading online bookmaker Bet9ja, is making significant strides in transforming lives and communities nationwide. Since its establishment in 2023, the Foundation has committed itself to addressing critical challenges facing Nigeria, investing over N534 million into more than 132 impactful projects spanning 29 states. Guided by a mission to enhance lives and support national development, the Foundation focuses its efforts through five core pillars, driving sustainable change where it’s needed most.
Health Care Development
Recognising that a healthy nation is prosperous, the Bet9ja Foundation prioritises improving community health and wellbeing. Initiatives focus on critical areas like primary and maternal health, bolstering health manpower, and enhancing access to medical equipment and infrastructure. Tangible impacts include bridging medical gaps by donating essential equipment, facilitating vital medical outreaches, maternal health programs, and eye care services in underserved communities. A notable example is the vibrant Fitness Festival held in Warri, Delta State, which attracted over 500 participants for health tests, wellness workshops, and fitness sessions, successfully promoting healthier lifestyles.
Education Development
The Foundation champions education as a key to unlocking Nigeria’s potential. Its comprehensive program aims to elevate the quality of education by addressing challenges such as teacher quality and school infrastructure. Key activities include teacher training workshops focused on critical thinking, developing smart classrooms, and constructing new classroom blocks.1 Furthermore, the Foundation empowers the next generation through ICT training and scholarships, ensuring deserving students can pursue their academic goals. The Bet9ja Foundation Scholarships specifically provide full tuition support to high-achieving students (CGPA 4.0+) in public universities across various fields.
Community Infrastructure
Building stronger communities requires solid foundations. The Bet9ja Foundation invests in essential infrastructure to improve living conditions, foster cohesion, and promote economic development. Projects focus on providing Access to Clean Water, often through solar-powered boreholes, enhancingcommunity infrastructure, and establishing Community Development centres. Installing solar panel street lights in rural communities and road rehabilitation efforts further contribute to safety and accessibility.
Sports Development
Leveraging the unifying power of sports, the Foundation is dedicated to nurturing athletic talent and promoting sports across Nigeria, focusing on football, basketball, and table tennis. The Foundation sponsors grassroots football tournaments and has notably supported the Nigerian Para-Powerlifting team, enhancing their ability to compete internationally, including at the World Cup. Initiatives like the Port Harcourt Marathon, Anambra Premier Cup, and local tournaments further showcase this commitment.
Youth Empowerment
Nigeria’s youth are its future, and the Bet9ja Foundation invests heavily in their potential. The Foundation supports education, training, entrepreneurship, job creation, and leadership development through diverse initiatives. Programs like the Graduate Employability and Enterprise Summit equip graduates with vital skills for the job market.
