Itesiwaju LG PDP Chair, Hon. Ganiyu Owolabi is Dead

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has been thrown into mourning following the death of Hon. Ganiyu Owolabi, the party chairman in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

According to family sources who spoke with newsmen, Owolabi passed away in the early hours of Tuesday after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

Described by many as a steadfast grassroots politician, Owolabi was known for his calm temperament and unwavering loyalty to the PDP in Oyo State.

His death, party members say, has left a painful void at a time when the party is navigating through both internal realignments and preparations for upcoming elections.

A family member who confirmed the sad news said the late chairman had been managing the ailment for several years but recently took ill again before his passing.

As of the time of filing this report, arrangements for his burial were said to be underway, in line with Islamic rites.

The deceased attended a recent PDP general meeting held in Otu area of the council where he addressed party faithful on party unity and reaffirmed loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde.
