A man identified simply as Idris has been apprehended for allegedly stealing electric cables in the Papa area of Apete, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The suspected thief was caught in the early hours of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, after reportedly carting away several electric cables from the neighborhood.
According to findings, Idris is a house owner residing in Araromi, another community within the Apete metropolis.
An eyewitness who spoke exclusively with our correspondent disclosed that residents of Papa and other parts of Apete have been battling irregular power supply due to frequent cases of electricity cable theft in recent weeks.
He added that the suspect was promptly handed over to the Apete Division of the Oyo State Police Command to prevent possible mob action and ensure proper investigation.
