Oyo state Forum of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has described the Joint ownership of LAUTECH as an unprofitable business which is jeopardizing the future of the students’ future on a daily basis.
They made the description when they staged a peaceful protest to the Governor’s office in Secretariat in Ibadan earlier today, carrying placards with different inscriptions including “Osun state should hands-off, Governor Seyi Makinde, Save our souls.
To this end, they called on the Oyo State Government to take full ownership and political will of LAUTECH and also pay the backlog of salary arrears owed them stressing that the ownership will bring an end to the incessant strike action that is crippling educational activities in the institution.
While addressing the protesters, the Commissioner for Education in Oyo state, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin, stated that appropriate steps are being taken on the issue of LAUTECH and also, the dialogue process is underway to address the institution’s issue which will lead to concrete resolution.
