LAUTECH: Oyo Govt Approves Payment of N8 Billion to Osun Govt Over Sole Ownership

The Oyo State Government has approved the payment of a sum of N8 billion to the Osun state government as a result of the assets sharing agreement signed when Oyo state took over the ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso in November 2020.

The state commissioner for education, science, and technology, barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing the state house correspondents on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held at the executive council chamber, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

According to barrister Olaleye, the payment will spread over three years, stressing that N1 billion will be paid in January and December 2021 respectively while N3 billion will be paid in 2022 and the last N3 billion will be paid in 2023.

Also speaking, the state commissioner for Energy, Barrister Seun Ashamu, revealed that the state executive council has approved a sum of N92 million to provide constant electricity supply to the Rural Community Development Centre, Awe in Afijio Local Government Area of the state with the use of solar power, diesel generator, and battery storage.

He added that the state government has also approved a sum of N750 thousand for the procurement of 60 bicycles for the conveyance of civil servants and visitors within the state Secretariat to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

The bicycles according to the Commissioner would be tagged “Keke Seyi” and its pilot scheme would be within three months.

Barrister Seun Ashamu explained during the Press-briefing that health protocols and procedures would be deployed to ensure adequate protection of all against contracting the dreaded Coronavirus while making use of the bicycles.
