Makinde Pledges to Commission All Ongoing Road Projects in 2021

…Urges Residents and Citizens to Keep Praying For His Administration

The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Sunday, has pledged the readiness of his administration to commission all the ongoing road projects being executed throughout the state in 2021.

Speaking at the 2020 Christmas Carol Service and Nine Lessons held at the Remembrance Arcade, Opposite Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, Gov. Makinde said, “We will keep developing our infrastructure, and all ongoing projects; the bus terminals, Apete-Awotan Road, Saki Township Road, Moniya, Ijaye-Iseyin Road, Akala way, I assure you we will commission all these projects in the year 2021.

“I’m sure, by then, I won’t be tagged an “audio governor” anymore because you would have seen physical evidence of what the administration is doing.”

Meanwhile, the Governor urged citizens and indigenes of the state not to stop their prayers as he acknowledged that he was only human and bound to make mistakes. He noted that with prayers, the Oyo State everyone dreams off will come to a reality.

He said, “When the pastor was addressing us the other time, he said he has been looking forward to sitting down with the Governor. The Governor is a human being like everyone else. I am just like you. I am not different from anyone else.

“I, as your Governor, needs prayer. All the members of Oyo State cabinet need your prayers. This is because only prayers can help us. We are limited as humans but prayers can help us do the impossible.

“If you continue to pray for us, I assure you that the Oyo State of our dreams will unfold before us.”

The Governor also promised to continue every programme highlighted by his administration.

“I only have a few words to say this year as it has been a very challenging year. The Covid-19 pandemic came upon the world in December 2019 and by February 2020,it had gotten to all corners of the world including here in Oyo State.

“We battled Covid-19 from February till December and it’s still yet to be conquered. In certain parts of the world including Nigeria, the second wave of the pandemic has started.

As if that wasn’t enough, we had the twin issue of economic meltdown and reduction in the demand and price of fuel in the global market which happens to be Nigeria’s major revenue.

I don’t think anyone is afraid of being kidnapped. So, we will continue to strengthen security architecture in Oyo State.

While wishing Christians in the State and the Country, happy Christmas, Makinde, called on those that want to divide the State through religious to desist from the act so as not be ashamed at end of the day.
