The Muslim Community of Oyo State, MUSCOYS, on Friday, congratulated the Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde on his victory at the last Saturday’s gubernatorial contest, wishing him a peaceful and successful second term.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni and Secretary-General, Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade on Friday, and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
MUSCOYS urged the governor to ensure that equity between the two major religions in the state, Islam and Christianity, remains the watchword of the governor in the next four years in the state.
Few days to the election, Alhaji Kunle Sanni was all over social media using religion as a political tool to campaign against Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, urging Muslims to vote for their fellow Muslim brother.
In one of his broadcast on Facebook, he had to disable the comment section when his fellow Muslims started lambasting him.
Despite his moves and utterances, the good people of Oyo State voted enmasse for ‘Seyi Makinde.
The statement read thus: “With warm wishes, the Muslim Community of Oyo State hereby writes to congratulate you on your re-election for the second term, as Executive Governor of Oyo State.
“We wish for you a peaceful tenure, God’s guidance and greater accomplishments for the good people of Oyo State.
“Almighty Allah gives power to whomsoever He wishes. It has pleased Allah to bestow this favour upon you.
“It is our fervent hope that equity between the two major religions in the state, Islam and Christianity, shall be your watchword.
“Once again, congratulations,” the statement added.
