It was a clash of the titans at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu as the Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan were held to a 1-1 draw by their opponents Remo Stars FC on Wednesday.
In what looked like a battle of the “elephants”, Remo starts began the game with a very offensive mindset as they launched the first attack of the game moments into the encounter which could have unsettled the Oluyole warriors but for the resilience of the defenders.
Playing under the scorching sun in the “Coal City”, 3SC players found it difficult to make meaningful offensive efforts in the first half as most of their attempts ended in futility.
The first half ended goalless after the two sides tried to find a late first-half goal in the three added minutes of the half.
As it has become a ‘normal’ of late, the 3SC players came into the second half with a lot more zeal and determination but they nearly had the shock of the game as Remo Stars launched a raid on the team in the 55th minute of the game but to no avail.
In the 67th minute of the encounter, the 3SC coach made an important substitution as Okachi Anthony was brought on to replace the seemingly tired Odeyemi Ebenezer.
Okachi went on to break the deadlock after series of attacks launched on the defence of Remo reduced their resistance and gave room for the goal.
The game was far from over as there was a late drama in the game as Remo Stars equalised in the 89th minute of the game to force the Oluyole Warriors to a draw in a highly entertaining game.
With this draw, Shooting Stars Sports Club now have four points from a possible six and will have to wait till their final matchday against Ekiti United to know their stand in their quest for top-flight football next season.
