Oduyoye Resigns From Makinde’s Advisory Council

A former Chief Whip of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye, has resigned his membership of the Oyo State Advisory Council.

Oduyoye, who represented Ibadan North West/ South West Federal constituency between 1999 and 2007, said in a resignation letter dated July 24, 2026, and addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde through the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, that personal exigencies had constrained his continued membership of the Council.

In the letter, Oduyoye announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.

Hon. Oduyoye, who also served as the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor between 2019 and 2023, stated that while he deeply appreciates the opportunity to serve on the Advisory Council, his personal circumstances have made it impossible for him to continue to participate in the affairs of the body.

The former federal lawmaker expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for the opportunity provided him to serve Oyo State.

He also commended the council for its contributions to governance in the state, describing it as a revered body that has played significant roles in the governance system.

The former Rep member, however, wished Oyo State success in its democratic journey.

The statement reads: “I write to intimate Your Excellency of my decision to resign my membership of the Oyo State Advisory Council forthwith.

“Sir, as much as I appreciate my membership of the revered body and its contributions to the governance system in our dear state in the last few years, personal exigencies have constrained my continued participation in the August body.

“While I will continue to wish our beloved state the best on this democratic journey, I equally appreciate His Excellency for the opportunity provided me to serve our dear state.”
