I may not have been able to respond to you all individually, but I deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
“While on the campaign trail, I talked about the need to grow the Oyo State economy. For example, at Akinyele Local Government Area, I spoke about the Ilutuntun Business District, which will be a modern take on the Dugbe Business District. I also spoke about attracting solid minerals and tourism investments to Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa zones.
“To achieve these and progressively increase and double our present Internally Generated Revenue to N7.5 billion monthly without raising taxes, we certainly need to attract local and international investors into Oyo State. This is why we have decided to host a global business summit themed – ‘Accessing the Pioneer Advantage to Sustainable Investments in Oyo State’.
“As the theme suggests, this summit will provide an All Access Card to investment opportunities in Oyo State. For this event, we will prioritise investment opportunities in agribusiness, tourism, solid minerals exploitation and sustainable energy.
“We will host this event in London, one of the world’s most prominent trade and business centres since the Middle Ages. Of course, I will be there as Oyo State’s Chief Marketing Officer. You will hear directly from members of my team and me why Oyo State should be the number one investment destination in Nigeria.
“So, I am using this newsletter to invite you to this summit which will be held on May 19, 2023, at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London Kensington. I promise you it will be a time of networking and business by the government, like you have not experienced in a while.
“In the coming weeks, I will share why you should be at this summit and links to register and get the summit brochure titled, ‘A Complete Guide to Sustainable Investment in Oyo State.’ Let me quickly mention that two energy companies have already confirmed attendance. By attending this event, you will hear directly from and discuss with the top members of the Oyo State Government mutually beneficial business opportunities.
“So, share this newsletter with your network; you never know who is considering investing in Nigeria and need a little nudge to think of Oyo State,” the letter added.
Imagine a down to earth governor, explaining his intentions and why it is done. This is what I think politics should be, a true democracy. God will continue to guide and protect you, engineer seyi..
i think this innovation will channel Oyo State toward the direction of improve sustainable development.
with the right investor coming into the state also will help with job generation for the youths.
in the area of tourism, re- creation , restructuring, and development of old tourist centre will also help the state to generate more Revenue.
I see no reason for the Governor to hold a business summit meant to develop Oyo State in London. This is nothing but capital flight. Please GSM hold the summit in Ibadan, the Capital of Oyo State, and let the investors spend time and money in Ibadan and its environment. Let them book hotels, buy local foods, and spend on leisure, transportation, and the like. The Mayor of London will not take a summit meant to benefit London to Lagos Nigeria; why do we do this to ourselves?
This is a business summit to show case Oyo State and attract investors from disapora. Adepeju please don’t be too elementary on the subject matter, the summit can be either way, but scouting for investors in the disapora by hosting the event at the UK is the best way to go, note that this is a paradigm shift approach. Oyo state of today have many things to showcase and market to the globe. Please stop playing amala and gbegiri politics here. We move.
