The palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has expressed shock and surprise at the announcement from Olori Naomi’s Instagram page on her separation from her husband, the Ooni of Ife, adding that they are probing possible hacking of her social media accounts.
While denying the knowledge of the report that the marriage between the monarch and his wife was over, the Director of Media and Strategy, Ooni’s palace, Moses Olafare, said as of Wednesday evening, the king and Olori Naomi went to bed as husband and wife.
According to him, separation in marriage cannot be done by one of the parties, stressing that probe will be launched into whether or not, her Instagram page was hacked.
Olafare was quoted to have said, “Separation is a two-way affair, it is not something that is announced by one party. The announcement of separation is subject to agreement by both parties.
“The palace is not aware of such separation because we all went to bed on Wednesday night, the two being the king and queen.”
Meanwhile, reports have it that some elders of Ile-Ife known as “Ile Oodua elders” are pulling frantic efforts to reconcile the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his estranged wife, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola.
Reliable sources report that some of the elders which comprised of traditional rulers and members of Ife community, have contacted Prophetess Naomi in a bid to reconcile their differences.
“Everybody is in a sober mood. The issues we heard could cause the divorce are reconcilable. We learnt Ooni is not aware of the divorce too”, the Elders’ team spokesperson said.
As of press time, it could not be ascertained if the reconciliation was successful.
But a close monarch to Ooni, who confirmed that elders are making moves said, “A statement from the palace will confirm the outcome”.
Recall that the wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Silekunola Naomi, disclosed on Thursday morning via her Instagram page, that her three-year marriage to the monarch, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has indeed ended.
