Oyo Amotekun Arrests Robbery Suspect, Recovers Vehicle, Other Stolen Items

The Oyo State Amotekun Corps has arrested one Aderemi Idowu Tirimisiyu, a suspected armed robber; after receiving a distress call about a robbery incident at Gas Cylinder Company, Ejioku, Lagelu Local Government in Oyo State.

The Corps Commandant in Lagelu Local Government Area, Amoo Oyewole Samuel made the disclosure in a press statement made available to Thevoicesnews Online Newspaper.

He explained that the officers who arrested the suspect recovered some firearms and a vehicle.

The statement read in part, “The Amotekun Corps in Lagelu Local Government, in a bid to reduce crime to its lowest level, carried out an intelligence-led operation against criminals in Ejioku area of Lagelu Local Government.

“We received a distress call around 0130 hours on Wednesday, 10th of August, 2022 that a robbery was going on at an old gas cylinder station in Ejioku.

“The Amotekun Corps moved swiftly into action and got to the incident scene at around 0145 hours. The unknown suspects (about five including the driver) fled the crime scene immediately they saw Amotekun van and drove off via Ile igbon-Iwo road. A shoot out ensued between the suspects and Amotekun Corps.

“The suspects abandoned their vehicle, a blue Ford bus and ran into the bushes at Yidi, Ile-Igbon. Amotekun Corps pursued the suspects and were able to arrest one of the suspects named Aderemi Idowu Tirimisiyu.

“We recovered the items stolen which comprises of cable wires and some machines.

“Further interrogation is going on to ensure that the other suspects who fled the crime scene are apprehended and brought to justice”, the statement added.
