The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday during its plenary session suspended the Chairperson of Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Oluwakemi Juliana Akaani-Ika, and her vice Hon. Badmus Mutiu over mismanagement of traditional rulers.
The speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin made the pronouncement after receiving a letter of allegation from the Olorunsogo Local Government executive members and traditional council, against the chairperson and vice.
According to the speaker, the allegation against them by the traditional rulers include — Lack of respect for the Traditional Council, No payment of benefit for the past 13 months and No accessibility of the chairperson to the citizens.
The house set up a committee to investigate the allegation levied against Juliana and Badmus, but received that they were due to set aside two weeks for the committee to have carried out a successful investigation.
Subsequently, the leader of the House in Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Bamikunle Ezekiel Adetunji is to take over the administration of the local government within the period.
Similarly on Tuesday, members of the legislative arm of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have suspended the council’s chairman, Sheriff Adeojo, indefinitely over allegation of financial impropriety.
The motion for his indefinite suspension was moved by the councillors at the plenary they held on Tuesday.
