The Oyo state government has directed the State’s Security Network codenamed Amotekun, to comb the state’s farm settlements and forest reserves which have been allegedly taken over by bandits.
The chairman, Oyo State Security Network, retired General Kunle Togun, disclosed this in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, this Tuesday.
According to general Togun, lists of the farm settlements and forest reserves to be sweep have been sent to the security network and the task has been registered as the first assignment of the Amotekun corps immediately after its take-off.
The Amotekun boss revealed to Oyo Affairs news that the ongoing screening exercise for the 47 thousand intending Amotekun Corps personnel will come to an end on the 4th of October, 2020.
General Togun who was a former Director of Military Intelligence and Deputy Director-General of the state security service, explained that due to logistics, only two thousand personnel will be a recruited for the official take-off of the Operation Amotekun in Oyo state, a thousand drop from the three thousand personnel initially proposed ahead of the State’s Security Network formal take off.
Oyo Affairs correspondent, gathered that the two thousand outstanding intending Amotekun security outfit’s applicants that will be chosen among the 47 thousand registered applicants will receive three weeks of intensive training.
