The Oyo State Government has applauded the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Ibadan Network Center for their role at sensitizing the people for Socio- Economic Development.
The Director General, Oyo State Agency for Social Economic Development (OYMASED), Dr Morohunkola Thomas while on a visit to the office of the South West Zonal Director of NTA, solicited the support of NTA at sensitizing people on the core values the state is known for.
Dr Morohunkola Thomas said the agency which was set up to revive the core values of the state for socio- economic development needs the media to help in mobilizing and publicizing it’s activities.
He added that lost values like honesty, integrity and respect for elders conspired against Socio- development.
‘Society that rejects shortcut as a virtue is positioned for Socio- Economic Development’, he said.
According to him, the med such as NTA which has its tentacles spread across the South West and Oyo State in particular will help in reaching people at the grassroots and bringing about the required change desired in the state.
He affirmed government’s commitment to using data and science for information gathering with regard to ethics and moralty. He said a better society is an advantage for all.
Responding, the NTA South West Zonal Director, Mr Waheed Popoola said lack of proper education and absence of mass mobilization agency also contributes to instilling core values which has derailed the economy.
Mr Popoola said the establishment of OYMASED in the state is a good development at this present time.
He added that NTA which has over a hundred channels located all over Nigeria is ready to support the agency and give it the publicity it requires.
According to the NTA Zonal Director, NTA Ibadan now has state of the art equipment and live transmission can be carried out from the station directly without the use of the OB Van.
He further wished the agency well in the task ahead while assuring of the stations collaboration.
