Police Charge 8 Suspected Cultists to Court Over Communal Clash in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command State has arrested and charged eight alleged cultists to a magistrate court for being part of a communal clash.

Speaking to the court, Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju, said: “On the 15th day Of August 2021, at Adesh Hotel, Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo in Oyo judicial division, the suspects did belong to an unlawful society and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 64 of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol 11 law of Oyo State, Nigeria”.

Inspector Olagunju further revealed that the suspects were intercepted and arrested at Adesh Hotel in Oyo Town where they have been using as their operational base.

The court session which was held recently, had Justice Olaide Hamzat presiding over the case and Bolaji Owodunmi, Olayemi Quadri, Olufemi Oyewole, Adedeji Abdelellahi, Ayinde Kehinde, Folaranmi Babatunde, Olamide Joshua and Oniwinde Oyekunle were the eight paraded suspects.

The suspects were ordered by Justice Hamzat to be held in custody at Abolongo Correctional Center in Oyo until they can pay their bail of N100, 000 each with a N100, 000 surety as the case was adjourned for further hearing on October 5th, 2021.
