Police Launches Investigation into Death of 40-year-old man in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has started a manhunt for the killers of Wale Adeyinka, 40, who was murdered in Ibadan, the state’s capital, over the weekend.

According to reports, the victim was murdered on Friday night, following a presentation at the Jogor Center on Liberty Road in Ibadan. The victim was tracked to his home in the Elebu neighbourhood by suspected armed robbers, who shot him many times.

An inquiry has started, according to Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, who on Sunday verified the event to PUNCH Metro.

Osifeso said, “Investigation has commenced. Updates will be provided accordingly, please.”

An eye witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “He went for a programme on Friday at Jogor Center, and he was traced to his house at Elebu. He was shot at a close range by his assailants and went with his car. He was, after that, rushed to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost yesterday morning (Saturday).

“Meanwhile, after snatching the car, they drove it towards Mokola that night, and when they got to Queens cinema bus stop after Dugbe, they ran out of fuel and abandoned the car there.

“So, the people around thought they wanted to get fuel at a nearby petrol station until when the Nigeria police officials arrived at the scene and told the people that the car was snatched and the owner had been killed.”
