The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the killing of a six-year-old girl in Ibadan.
The command said the incident occurred on April 11, 2026, in Adigun Village, Olorunda Ogunsola area of the city, where the victim, identified as Mutiyatu Sunday, was allegedly killed.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police received information that the young girl had been murdered and her severed head found in the possession of the suspect, Sodiq Kayode Akorede.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed the immediate deployment of operatives to the scene to secure the suspect and recover evidence.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly killed the victim and was found with her head.
The police added that the suspect has confessed to the crime during interrogation and investigation has commenced fully on the incident.
