Security: Oyo CP, Adebowale Williams Reels Out Important Security Tips for Personal Safety

The new Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Adebowale Williams has swung into action to prevent crimes, and frustrate criminality tendencies in the state.

In a statement released by the Oyo Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Adewale Osifeso Anipr, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police
Oyo State Command, not less than 15 personal safety rules were reeled out for residents and citizens of the state.

See the safety tips below:

  1. Avoid “TELL IT ALL” Car stickers, especially if it says a lot about your workplace, its location and other contacts.
  2. Ensure to have a valid means of identification at all times.
  3. Avoid brandishing your priced possessions such as phones, jewelries, monies in public, you don’t know who is watching.
  4. Make it a habit of shredding bank notifications generated from Point of Sales terminals/ATM Machines.
  5. Be observant when driving especially if you feel followed. Seek help by parking at any police formation closest to you at the time.
  6. Visit your Children/ward in school occasionally and build relationships with the teachers and school administrators.
  7. Ensure your Mobile phones are on at all times in case of emergency situations.
  8. Avoid leaving artisans in your home, shops and other places of interest without supervision.
  9. Be mindful of picture uploads and tell it all captions on social media. It may serve as leads to the criminally minded.
  10. Avoid being sandwiched on Motorcycles and in “Micra”(local Commercial Vehicles)
  11. Avoid boarding unmarked vehicles and unregistered motorcycles.
  12. Ensure you inform at least someone about your location at all times.
  13. Avoid extreme night journeys.
