The Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his condolences to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, following the death of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde, who passed away on Friday, January 24 at the age of 65.
In a statement from Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun conveyed the forum’s deep sorrow upon hearing of the sudden demise. He acknowledged the profound pain of losing a sibling and encouraged Governor Makinde to find strength in his Christian faith, which teaches that God’s love and will are paramount.
Governor Abiodun noted that although Sunday Makinde did not reach old age, his life was distinguished and impactful. He stated, “On behalf of myself and the members of the Southern Governors Forum, I extend my heartfelt condolences to my brother, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on the loss of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde, early this morning.
“The news is undoubtedly heart-wrenching, especially since his passing was sudden. However, according to Christian teachings, this separation is temporary, with the promise of reunion in eternal life. We encourage His Excellency to see this as part of God’s plan and to find comfort in the legacy left by his brother, who was blessed with children and grandchildren.
“May the Lord provide comfort to the bereaved wife, children, and the entire Makinde family during this difficult time.”
