Three Arraigned in Court Over Alleged Shopbreaking, Theft in Ibadan

Three individuals identified as Kunle Taiwo, 28; Nurudeen Wahab, 25; and Iyabo Alimi, 34, appeared yesterday before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly breaking into shops and stealing roofing sheets.

The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, faced charges of conspiracy, shopbreaking, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecutor, Insp. David Adepoju, informed the court that the offenses occurred on January 26 at approximately 5:00 p.m. in the Apete area of Ibadan.

Adepoju alleged that Taiwo and Wahab broke into the shops of Olumakinde Oni, Roseline Adedeji, and Adewale Sheriff, stealing roofing sheets. He further claimed that Alimi received the stolen items from Taiwo and Wahab, knowing them to be stolen.

The offenses contravene Sections 516, 414, 427, and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Mrs. Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendants bail at N200,000 each, with two sureties in the same amount. The case was adjourned until March 12 for hearing.
