“Try to Buy Alaafin’s stool and land in EFCC” – Makinde fires Warning

Oyo state governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has issued a stern warning to individuals vying for the position of Alaafin of Oyo, cautioning them against attempting to influence the selection process through financial means. Makinde emphasized that the prestigious Alaafin’s stool is an integral part of Yoruba heritage and history, and therefore, cannot be bought or sold.

The governor delivered this warning during the commissioning of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Iseyin Campus by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He made it clear that anyone found offering financial inducement in order to become the next Alaafin would be reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Makinde also appealed to all aspirants and royal houses involved in the tussle for the Alaafin’s stool to put an end to their disputes, in order to facilitate the swift appointment of a new Alaafin. He expressed his readiness to crown a new Alaafin as soon as there is harmony among the royal households.
