The South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scheduled to hold this Monday has commenced in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun state.
PDP delegates are currently undergoing a thorough accreditation in a bid to cast their votes and install either Dr. Edward Olafeso who has the backing of former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, or Taofeeq Arapaja, a former Oyo State deputy governor who has the support of Governor Seyi Makinde as the chairman of the PDP in the Southwest region.
Governor Seyi Makinde, while addressing newsmen at the venue of the congress in Osogbo, expressed satisfaction at the ongoing South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also charged the PDP delegates to be fair and transparent with the selection process.
It can be recalled that the southwest zonal congress had earlier been slated to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State but the change of venue became necessary as a result of the misunderstanding between Ayodele Fayose and Governor Seyi Makinde.
However, the PDP national leadership has assured the relevant parties involved that they will work with all stakeholders concerned to achieve a seamless and unifying congress of the party in the South West region.
