Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko has reassured the residents and citizens of adequate security of lives and properties, during this yuletide period.
Briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan on Thursday shortly before the End of the Year/ CP’s Special Recognition Award Ceremony, CP Ngozi Onadeko again urged parents and guidance to warn their children or wards against the usage of fireworks.
Onadeko also used the occasion to commission the Remodelled Multiple Hall of the command that has been there since the western region era but the hall has received a face-lift due to massive intervention of the CP.
Onadeko, in her message said, “Parents, guardians and leaders wielding various degrees of influence in religious, educational and traditional capacities are to passionately warn their wards and protégés against violating this law as adequate sanctions would be meted out.
“The ban on the use of fireworks remains valid and that the command will enforce all extant laws prohibiting its sales and usage during this Yuletide season. So also, dealers, traders and suppliers of such wares are advised against stockpiling these prohibited items and selling to ignorant minors, as violators would be severely dealt with and prosecuted”, She added.
The event was well attended by dignitaries across the state, while the highlight of the event was featured with the award presentation to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde; his deputy, Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan; Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and other distinguished officers.
