Former Oyo Lawmaker, 6 Others Arraigned for Forgery, Alleged Murder in Ogbomoso

Seven indigenes of Oyo State were on Tuesday 7th September, 2021 arraigned before the magistrate court sitting in Ogbomoso North local government area of Oyo state for their involvement in criminal activities such as Forgery, Publication of false documents, threats to murder a traditional Chieftain and conspiracy.

Presiding over the case, was Chief Magistrate Muideen Salami who listened to the charges against the accused before granting them bail for the sum of 500,000.each with sureties in like sum.

The charges against the defendants read thus “That you Wojuade Gbemiga, Wojuade Philip, Bello Opeyemi, Eyolade Joshua and Dr. Folaranmi Oyebamiji, in January 2020 unlawfully published a defamatory and false news on facebook that one Chief Solomon Ojedayo was a mad man, a bastard who was not born by his father and accused Chief Ojedayo of involving in money rituals and that he will soon meet his end”.

The charges also read “that you, Chief Matthew Wojuade Ademola and others still at large, in January 2020 at Oko area of Ogbomoso, conspired and unlawfully forged signatures on letters and other documents written with the letterhead of Oba Oladunmoye Adaramola Oyenubi, dated May 29,2011, purportedly confirming on Wojuade Ademola the title of Elejumo of Oko land with the intent of deceiving the general public and illegally confer power on the above mentioned person.

Pleading “not guilty ” to the charges which were punishable offences under sections 516, 467,59,323 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11 laws of Oyo State, 2000,the defendants through their counsel, Barr. I. H. Adigun appealed for bail.

The arraigned seven included, a former lawmaker representing Surulere /Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Dr. Folaranmi Oyebamiji (55), Eyolade Adewumi (26), Bello Opeyemi (33), Adeniyi Idowu (39), Wojuade Philip (45), Wojuade Gbemiga (52) and Wojuade Ademola (92).
