Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has called on the Nigeria Police to remove roadblocks on highways in order to encourage potential investors to do business in the state.
The Governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone Eleven, Paul Odama, at his office in Agodi Ibadan.
Governor Makinde welcomed the AIG and his entourage to the courtesy room of the Governor’s Office, where he commended the Oyo State Police Command for their collaboration with other security agencies, resulting in the state being one of the most peaceful in Nigeria.
He also assured the zone Eleven Police Command of the state government’s support, acknowledging that policing in Oyo State can be challenging due to its population and land mass. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing adequate assistance to the police in carrying out their duties.
The Governor also praised the Nigeria Police for their role in sustaining democracy in the country.
In his remarks, AIG Odama expressed his appreciation for the unprecedented support the Oyo State Police Command has received from Governor Makinde’s administration, including regular donations of security vehicles.
The Governor later led AIG Odama on an inspection of the vehicles purchased to strengthen the state’s security network within the premises of the state Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan.
The event was attended by top government officials and state appointees on security matters.
