Pomp and Pageantry has greeted Governor Makinde’s assurance to the traders of Moniya market in Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan, that their shops will be rebuilt, soon, as people trooped to welcome the Peoples’ Governor who visited the market, today.
The panic-stricken people who were excited over the Governor’s visitation to the Market had their hopes re-awakened when the Governor promised to build their shops through the Local Government, for economic activities.
Moniya market dominated the news scene last week Friday when a tanker laden diesel fell on a construction site and ignited fire which claimed lives and property.
While assuring the traders of his administration to start a new lease of life, Governor Makinde condoled with them and promised that their
stalls would be rebuilt as he directed the Local Government Caretaker Chairman to oversee the rebuilding of the affected shops. He further stated that former allocators of each shop would be given their stalls for business activities again.
The Oyo state Governor also stated during the visit that names of traders for the shops allocation would be collected in order to proffer solutions for new lease of life, maintaining that he understands the traders’ plight.
